While the month of February did not display much in the way of winter cold snaps or eye-popping high price spikes, there was plenty of excitement throughout the country on the renewable front. The warmer than average temperatures had an impact on solar generation as multiple markets saw surges in output while the abundance of natural gas molecules swirling played into the price action exacerbating the impacts of midday oversupply in markets including CAISO.
