Last December brought less opportunity for capturing arbitrage in the day-ahead market for both NP15 and SP15 batteries. This January, gas prices and power prices took a step up, but only SP15 batteries got better opportunities for DAM arb. NP15 batteries lost out as heavy congestion meant less of a price spread between midday charging hours and evening price peaks. Additionally, higher prices overall meant more losses due to efficiency constraints. In this article, titled 'NP15 Batteries Losing Out on DAM Arb', we explore several factors that led to this decreased value of DAM arb for NP15 batteries.
